Meaning and background
The story behind Alba
Alba offers a particularly layered choice. The modern European name brings together older Latin and Germanic naming histories, while the word for dawn in Italian, Spanish and Catalan provides another possible inspiration. The ancient Roman form is feminine Albus; the Germanic form shortened names containing the elf element. A sunrise association is therefore a valid personal reason to choose Alba, but it should not erase the other histories. Its short spelling leaves room for that longer story on a profile.
