Ashanti refers to the Asante, or Ashanti, people of Ghana, a historically important Akan-speaking community. The proposed Twi translation “warlike” appears in name references but is not firm enough to present without a qualification. Used for a dog, the name can be an ethnic or cultural reference; that background deserves greater care than reducing it to a supposed temperament label.
