Meaning and background
The story behind Atreyu
Atreyu is the boy warrior who helps drive the journey in Michael Ende’s fantasy novel The Neverending Story. The author’s official site confirms the character, but the name’s supposed literal translations circulating online have not been securely verified. Its three syllables and unusual vowel sequence make it quite different from classical names such as Atreus, despite their similar first letters.
