Meaning and background
The story behind Aydan
Aydan can be a Turkish or Azerbaijani name meaning “from the moon”, using the word ay and a grammatical ending. Exactly the same spelling also serves as an English variant of Aidan, whose older Irish background involves the root for fire. Calling Aydan simply “moon” or simply “little fire” therefore loses part of the picture. The two traditions even favour different first-vowel sounds.
