Meaning and background
The story behind Bambu
Bambu is the Portuguese word for bamboo, the tall, jointed grass that is used for everything from furniture to screens. Spanish uses the related spelling bambú, with an accent, and the Spanish dictionary says it borrowed the word from Portuguese. The ultimate history of the Portuguese form is less secure. Bambu makes a botanical dog name, but it should not be assigned a fanciful cultural symbol as its literal meaning.
