Meaning and background
The story behind Begonia
Begonia is a botanical name with more to it than a generic flower reference. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh maintains a research resource devoted to this large flowering-plant genus, while the Royal Horticultural Society describes begonias grown for patterned leaves as well as flowers. Silver markings and bold leaf shapes are among those ornamental features. Gardeners may therefore choose Begonia for foliage, colour or a remembered collection. This plant association does not require assigning a flower-based personality to the dog.
