Meaning and background
The story behind Bellini
Bellini is an Italian surname with an especially recognisable cultural association: the Venetian painter Giovanni Bellini. A peach-and-prosecco cocktail later took his surname because its colouring evoked his paintings. The cocktail connection is documented, but it would be misleading to translate Bellini as if it were an ordinary Italian word with a single meaning.
