Meaning and background
The story behind Binx
Binx has a specific Halloween-film namesake in Thackery Binx from Hocus Pocus. Disney’s D23 reference explains that the character was a boy transformed into a cat after interfering with the Sanderson sisters, and that he later helps the modern children oppose them. The surname alone therefore carries a recognisable story connection for a fan naming a dog. It can recall the character’s protective role rather than simply functioning as a generic black-cat label. The film account supplies no historical surname etymology.
