Meaning and background
The story behind Chassis
Chassis is the engineering term for the underlying frame of a vehicle. The word arrived in English from French châssis, once applied to other kinds of framing as well, including window structures. Its distinctive spelling is rather more involved than its two spoken syllables. For a dog, it is an unusual choice with a recognisable mechanical association, but there is no reason to make up a personality meaning or a hidden traditional forename.
