Meaning and background
The story behind Chuchu
Chuchu has unrelated dictionary associations in more than one language. Priberam records the Portuguese climbing plant Sechium edule and its edible fruit, alongside informal affectionate descriptions, and marks the word's etymology doubtful. The World Loanword Database separately records Mapudungun chuchu for a maternal grandmother and her grandchildren. These uses should not be fused into a single name meaning. They show why the language and an owner's own reference matter when explaining Chuchu.
