Meaning and background
The story behind Dasher
Dasher is the English agent noun for someone or something that dashes. It is also one of the reindeer named in the poem A Visit from St. Nicholas, which gives the word a recognisable Christmas association. Neither source says that dogs bearing Dasher must be fast. The two syllables distinguish it neatly from the shorter Dash.
