Meaning and background
The story behind Dosa
Dosa is a South Indian food word, adopted into English from Tamil tōcai. Collins defines it as a savoury pancake, often served with fillings and accompaniments; a dosa is not a sweet dessert by definition. As a dog name it belongs to the same playful culinary group as Biscuit or Noodle. The English dictionary gives a two-syllable pronunciation, while a personal or regional pronunciation might differ.
