Meaning and background
The story behind Ezio
Ezio is the Italian form of Aetius. Following that documented relationship leads to Greek Aetios and a word for an eagle, giving the short modern spelling a longer classical history. The Italian reference pronunciation contains a consonant sound that an English reader may not predict from the z alone. For a dog, Ezio can offer a compact classical name without the full Latinized Aetius. If you choose it because of a fictional bearer, explain that as a separate inspiration; the older name relationship does not depend on a modern character.
