Meaning and background
The story behind Glacier
A glacier is a slow-moving mass of ice, formed from accumulated snow. The English word was borrowed from French, ultimately from Latin glacies, meaning ice. As a dog name it gives a direct link with winter landscapes without claiming any particular breed, coat colour or temperament. The source history is much more dependable than a symbolic reading about a ‘cool personality’, which would be merely metaphorical.
