Meaning and background
The story behind Gordito
Gordito is an informal Spanish form of gordo, literally referring to someone or something chubby or plump. In some contexts it is an affectionate address, while in others it can be unkind; a Spanish dictionary records both registers. That is more informative than labelling it simply 'cute'. The ending -ito is a diminutive, but it does not by itself show what an individual dog owner intended by choosing the name.
