Meaning and background
The story behind Granola
Granola comes from the world of breakfast cereals, not from a traditional personal-name system. An earlier capitalised Granola was a proprietary cereal name, while the more general American English word was recorded later. Its formation probably draws on a word for grain, or on granular, with a commercial -ola ending, although the details are not certain. As a dog name it is recognisably food-inspired and has three distinct syllables.
