Meaning and background
The story behind Hinata
Hinata is a Japanese name whose interpretation changes with its written form. 日向 can describe a sunny place, whereas 陽向 evokes facing or turning towards the sun; another spelling may use characters for sunflower. These are alternatives rather than one fixed literal translation. It is read hi-na-ta in Japanese, with three rhythmic morae, and is familiar through Japanese fiction as well as ordinary naming.
