Meaning and background
The story behind Hodoo
Hodoo is an alternative romanised spelling of Korean 호두, more commonly written hodu, meaning 'walnut'. Korean cookery writer Maangchi explicitly lists 'hodoo' alongside 'hodu', so the relationship is a matter of documented spelling rather than guesswork. As a spoken name it has two compact syllables. The walnut is a lexical meaning of the Korean word; without a Korean-language naming record, it cannot establish every individual dog's intended naming story.
