Meaning and background
The story behind Honeycrisp
Honeycrisp is the name of a particular apple cultivar developed at the University of Minnesota, not a historic given name. The university lists its release in 1991 and describes fruit noted for crispness and juiciness. That agricultural origin is much more precise than a vague assertion that the name means sweetness. Honeycrisp has three clear syllables in ordinary English use, although an individual dog's nickname may of course be shorter.
