Meaning and background
The story behind Ishka
Ishka has an unusually direct canine connection in the history of the Australian handcraft retailer ISHKA. The company says founder Michael Sklovsky chose the name in 1971 after an Afghan Hound belonging to friends who helped establish the business. Its first premises were a craft studio in Glen Iris. This is a documented dog namesake and a particular brand-naming story, rather than a dictionary translation that applies to all uses of Ishka.
