The story behind Korben
Korben Dallas is the taxi driver and former commando played by Bruce Willis in The Fifth Element. Producer Gaumont’s account pairs him with Leeloo, played by Milla Jovovich, in the 1997 science-fiction film’s attempt to prevent Earth’s destruction. That gives Korben a particular screen reference for an owner choosing a dog’s name after the film. The final en preserves this character’s spelling. The studio account establishes his fictional identity without explaining Korben as a historical form of Corbin or assigning it a literal translation.
