Meaning and background
The story behind Kovu
Kovu is named in Disney’s synopsis of The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride. He is the young lion being prepared to lead Scar’s pride, whose relationship with Simba’s daughter Kiara becomes a route toward bringing the rival groups together. The spelling therefore has a particular animated-film association. The studio synopsis supports that character history, but it does not establish a Swahili translation or an independent personal-name origin.
