Meaning and background
The story behind Lex
Lex is an established one-syllable short form of Alexander, particularly in English and Dutch. Alexander ultimately traces to Greek elements associated with defence and men, but Lex itself is not a separate Greek word meaning protector. Its crisp closing x sound makes the nickname easy to distinguish in speech; it is also familiar from the fictional character Lex Luthor.
