Meaning and background
The story behind Lucio
Lucio is the Italian and Spanish counterpart of the Roman name Lucius. Italian normally uses a “ch” sound, giving “LOO-cho”, whereas Spanish pronunciations vary between European and Latin American forms. It can sound similar to Luciano when called casually but has its own two-syllable structure. The link to Latin lux is inherited through Lucius, not through Greek Lucas.
