Meaning and background
The story behind Lunette
Lunette comes from French and is literally a diminutive of lune, “moon”. Today French lunettes commonly refers to spectacles, while the singular has other optical and architectural senses. In English, a lunette can also describe a crescent-shaped feature. This is a genuine word history, but not automatically proof of a traditional personal name. It has a distinctive “loo-NET” sound for an English-speaking household.
