Meaning and background
The story behind Lupa
Lupa is the Latin word for a female wolf, a direct connection to a wild relative of domestic dogs. Unusually, its canine use is historical as well as symbolic: the Lewis and Short Latin dictionary cites the Roman agricultural writer Columella recording Lupa as a dog name. It therefore needs no invented legend or modern personality story to make sense as an animal name.
