Meaning and background
The story behind Meteor
Meteor comes from a Greek-derived term for something in the air or high above. Today it usually describes the bright streak seen when a small space rock burns in Earth's atmosphere, often called a shooting star. That scientific definition is firmer than treating Meteor as an ancient personal name. For a dog it gives a distinctive space association and a three-syllable call, with no unsupported promise of extraordinary speed.
- Meaning
