Meaning and background
The story behind Mulan
Mulan has an explicit Disney character association. Disney's official princess page describes the young woman taking her father's place in the Imperial Army while disguised as a male soldier, and its images show her training and warning her friends of danger. An owner may choose the spelling as a tribute to that story of courage and family commitment. The character reference is secure; this page does not itself establish the Chinese characters or linguistic meaning of Mulan.
