Meaning and background
The story behind Orin
Orin is one of the English-language forms of Irish Odhrán, a name built on an Old Irish colour term meaning greyish brown or tawny and a diminutive ending. It has been carried through Irish naming history rather than created as an English spelling of Oren. Because those similar names have different roots, combining the pine-tree translation of Oren with Orin would be incorrect. Orin has a straightforward two-syllable reading for English speakers.
