Meaning and background
The story behind Pammy
Pammy is a diminutive of Pam, which is itself short for Pamela. The affectionate *-y* ending is familiar in English nickname formation, but it does not give Pammy a new historical meaning. The most defensible story is therefore a short chain of personal-name forms, not a fanciful translation. It sounds lighter and more playful than Pam while preserving the same immediate naming tradition.
