Meaning and background
The story behind Samsara
Samsara is a Sanskrit religious and philosophical term, not a traditional name meaning simply “peace”. In Hindu, Buddhist and Jain thought it denotes the continuing cycle of birth, death and rebirth, with a literal history associated with wandering or passage through states. These traditions do not agree on every detail, so the concept is best described without treating them as interchangeable. As a dog name, Samsara carries that word association without implying the owner’s beliefs.
