Meaning and background
The story behind Toni
Toni is used in more than one European naming tradition. In English it is often the feminine short form of Antonia; in Finnish, Croatian and other languages it can be a masculine shortening of forms such as Anttoni or Antun. The spelling therefore does not determine gender or one inherited translation. For a dog, its two-syllable rhythm works independently of those distinctions.
