The story behind Willamina
Willamina has a documented place association in Oregon's northwestern Willamette Valley. The Oregon Historical Society's encyclopedia explains that the city was named for its river, and the river for Willamina Craig Maley Williams. It also records the settlement's mills and incorporation in 1903. This preserves a real historical use of the exact spelling. The place and its namesake do not, by themselves, establish the linguistic derivation of Willamina as a given name.
