The story behind Xolo
Xolo is the short, established name for the Xoloitzcuintli, the Mexican dog breed often called the Mexican hairless dog. The American Kennel Club recognises both hairless and coated examples, so even the breed's familiar informal description has limits. Xolo is particularly apt for a dog-name catalogue because its recognised use is canine, but one cannot infer that a particular dog named Xolo belongs to that breed.
