Meaning and background
The story behind Zuul
Zuul has an unusual bridge between fiction and paleontology. The Royal Ontario Museum explains that the dinosaur Zuul was named for the Ghostbusters monster because of a resemblance involving the skull and horns. Its species epithet crurivastator refers to destroying shins, so that phrase should not be mistaken for the meaning of Zuul itself. The museum supplies the namesake relationship, rather than a traditional personal-name etymology.
