Meaning and background
The story behind Beulah
Beulah is a biblical Hebrew word meaning “married”. In Isaiah it is applied symbolically to the land of Israel rather than introduced as a modern person’s name. The name was later used in English-speaking Protestant traditions, giving it a traceable religious and linguistic history. For a dog, the unusually soft opening sound may be more immediately noticeable than those origins, but both deserve accurate separation.
