Meaning and background
The story behind Chaser
Chaser is an ordinary English agent noun: someone or something that gives chase. Older and specialised uses include a horse trained for pursuit and a drink following another drink. On a lead or in the park, the name naturally recalls the verb chase, but it would be wrong to infer any pet's habits from that. The playful sound is readily explained by familiar vocabulary rather than a fabricated historical forename.
