The story behind Gumby
Gumby is the green clay character created by Art Clokey in 1955. His studio’s account connects the character with stop-motion animation and describes adventures in which he can pass into books and other worlds. The official cast guide identifies Pokey as his close companion and Nopey as his dog. Those details give a childhood-inspired name several particular memories to draw on.
