Meaning and background
The story behind Po
Po is a very short form with more than one possible reference. In Italy it is the name of the major river crossing the northern plain; the Italian reference work Treccani traces it to Latin Padus but says the deeper etymology is uncertain. Without knowing an owner's intention, there is no basis for treating Po as a single-language word with a universal 'meaning'. Its one-syllable sound is the clearest practical feature.
