Meaning and background
The story behind Prim
Prim is an English adjective for someone noticeably formal, neat or restrained, sometimes with a disapproving edge. It also resembles the beginning of Primrose, but that resemblance alone does not demonstrate a particular nickname derivation. Used for a dog, Prim has a clipped one-syllable call and an old-fashioned air. Any suggestion that the dog is especially proper would be wordplay rather than an evidence-based temperament judgement.
