Meaning and background
The story behind Saga
Saga has two relevant northern European paths which should not be collapsed. Sága is the name of a figure in Norse mythology, with a possible and disputed connection to a word for seeing. Separately, modern Swedish and Icelandic saga means a story or tale and can inform naming independently. The familiar English word saga is an additional association, but not proof that every bearer shares the mythological route.
