Meaning and background
The story behind Shao
Shao is a standard Mandarin spelling for more than one Chinese family-name history. The character 邵, pronounced shào, is documented by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education as both a historic place name and a surname. The plain Latin letters do not tell us which Chinese character a particular name represents. That distinction matters: Chinese character identity must be known before supplying a definite origin or meaning.
