Meaning and background

The story behind Shin

Shin is a Japanese masculine given name that can be written with the character 真, meaning genuine or real, among other characters with the same pronunciation. Because Japanese names are written in kanji as well as Latin letters, the spelling Shin alone does not select that interpretation. It is also an ordinary English word for the front of the lower leg, an unrelated possibility for pet naming. Neither route can be assumed universal.

Origin
Japanese given name that may be written 真 (real, genuine) or other kanji; the English word shin is unrelated. Source
