Meaning and background
The story behind Sochi
Sochi is the name of a resort city on Russia’s Black Sea coast, with the Caucasus Mountains inland. It came to wider sporting attention as host of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. As a dog name it could be a geographical or sporting nod, but the place-name’s older linguistic derivation has not been confidently established here. That is a more defensible description than assigning an unsupported translation.
