Meaning and background
The story behind Trust
Trust denotes confidence in someone's honesty, reliability or good intentions, and the verb means to rely upon them. In law the same spelling has a specialised property-management sense; this does not normally govern the everyday name. Used for a dog, it can be read as a virtue word, but claiming that the animal is naturally trustworthy would be an unsupported personality judgment.
